Soon

Not much time–tick-tick-tick-tick–the car comes soon, the plane leaves shortly thereafter. Still sorting things in suitcases, still sending last-second messages to sublettors and sisters in Christ. Thank God for strength, focus, protection and wisdom.

Not much time to blog, scribble, doodle, or daydream. Get the list of phone numbers together–pack the extra-strong sunblock–water the plants–check the clock. Tick-tick-tick-tick….

"No Time for Naps" by Andrea Bonifacio

Naptime is over. Time to wake up and smell the cachaza. No, coffee. Happy, a little nervous. Remember–this is a vacation! Been a while, try to recollect the feeling of it when you can.

Waiting is over. Time to get a move on. No perfect profundities for soundosaudade–save it for the reunion. Tia’s waiting–all four of them–and enough cousins to pack twelve clown cars.

This is for you–should tide you over until next time.

See you then.
